Well my TGIMBOEJ has come and gone. For those that don’t know what a TGIMBOEJ is here you go. It stands for The Great Internet Migratory Box Of Electronic Junk! The box travels from person to person with each documenting what is inside, removing what they want, and putting in what they don’t need. Think of it as the “Napster” or “Limewire” of electronics parts and junk except without all the viruses and legality issues. So now that that is cleared up let us see what was inside when it arrived!
LIST of Contents when it arrived:
- 5 – IC Sockets
- 5 – mini vibration motors (like what’s in your cell phone)
- 5 – SMT pushbuttons
- 22 – 5-pin female board/plug connectors
- 2 – packages of wire wrap wire jumpers
- various vintage wirewrap tools and bits
- bag of screws and hardware
- 8 – various plugs w/wires
- pack of 10 mOhm resistors
- pack of 2 kOhm resistors
- pack of 39 Ohm resistors
- 2 – Red colored Dome LED’s
- 3 – Green colored Dome LED’s
- 13 – Green Clear Dome LED’s
- 11 – White Clear Dome LED’s
- 9 – Blue Clear Dome LED’s
- 1 – Circu Laser 670nm 5mW Diode
- 10 – 2n4401 NPN Transistors
- 3 – mini Project Boxes
- 12 – Random ICs (most of them PIC Micrcontrolers)
- 1 – BAD Meggy Jr RGB Board (has a dead Frowny face in marker on the back)
- 24 – 7912 Negative fixed voltage regulators
- Various Random Circuit boards
- 1 – DIRTY Prizm… didn’t have any windex on hand
to clean it for the next person - Motorola 6809 Microcomputer Module and Prototype board
- 4 – Through hole chip sockets
- 1 – PT6304R 12V Power Regulator
- 1 – DS1245y-70 Nonvolatile SRam
- Various Mosfets
- 2 – mini 7 segment LED Displays HP brand
- 6 – Plastic tubes
- 6 – Stickers
- A bunch of random loose items in the bottom of the box which I put in a bag and labeled it – Bottom of The Junk Box Randomness!
What I took out:
- couple of plugs with wire attached
- couple of chip sockets
- Mini LED 7-segment Displays
- PT6304R 12v Power Regulator
- couple of Negative Voltage regulators
- “Now Slower and with more Bugs” Sticker
- 4 Transistors
- 2 Mini project boxes
- Some LEDs (each color)
- some Resistors (Still PLENTY to go round!)
Lets take a look at what I put back in!:
- 1 – G120D10 10 amp Solid-state relay (will control up to 10 amps of AC power with under 50 mAmps of low voltage DC)
- 1 – female header 40-pin .100″ spacing
- 5 – 1.5v Solar cells
- 8 – DC Motors (4 – include gearboxes – READY for WHEELS and a ROBOT!)
The Box is now headed to the guys over at ArduinoFun.com. Keep an eye on their website for info about what they find and what they put in. If you want a chance to get this box or any of the many other boxes making the rounds around the world. Head on over to http://tgimboej.org and sign up!
